They are made of 100% of plant fat (oils and butters) to replace sebum and repair the skin's lipid barrier. This barrier is needed to prevent hydration loss.  

The plant oils and butters are made of natural humectants, skin softening emollients, plant waxes, phytoceramides, and phytosterols that heal, soothe, soften, and vitalize skin. Also, as the body butter soaks in it leaves an occlusive layer on top of the natural barrier to help prevent additional hydration loss. It is a hydrating emollient that softens skin and rebuilds the skin's lipid barrier.
